Process Monitoring
Process Monitoring is used to monitor critical points throughout the industrial process to increase productivity, maintain product quality, reduce downtime, prevent product loss or prevent accidents. Product quality relies on many factors including conditions such as temperature, pressure, flow rate and colour.
These industries manufacture many types of products including food, drugs, beverages and household chemicals. Chemical processes in industry require monitoring and management to maximise production and assist in providing safe product for consumption.
An example of why we monitor process is the amount of fuel that is wasted in a Power Station Boiler. Fuel is an expensive commodity and combustion efficiency monitors are used to monitor the amount of fuel not being burnt therefore being released into the atmosphere through their stacks.
Another example is loss of product or loss of product quality in the food and drink we consume on a daily basis. Colorimeters are used in process of many different liquids like wine, beer, orange juice or even milk. Colorimeters ensure that one product does not run into another by ensuring that the product lines run clear before new product is introduced. Colorimeters also ensure that quality is kept at the same level throughout production by detection of colour difference however minute.
